*40+ This year the weather did not worked in our favor,
Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, were cold and windy and
only the brave showed up. With fewer amounts of riders the fewer
places to hide. So we knew that it was suppose to be a hard
race, and indeed it was. The general classification was wide
open. Alex Zambrana won the day but Ransford Robinson with his
third place was able to win the series by one point over Alex.
The last step of the podium was for Jose A Rodriguez.
* 50+ The winner of the day Javier Ortiz duplicated this
victory to his first one of the year; this gave him the last
podium step on the GC. The real fight was for a tie we had on
first place; Leonel Rodriguez was third on the line for the day,
to become the winner of the series, while Israel Vera took
second for the day and for the general classification.
*Pro 1,2,3 With the assistance of Roslan Rivera both days
(Saturday and Sunday) Luis Zayas was able to win the series, the
partial podiums were divided among them on the individual races;
“El presidente” first and second and vice versa for “Machete”
The absence of some riders gave to others the opportunity to
move up in the GC, well taken and deserved. Roslan with the
points in two races it settled into the second place overall.
While Campbell was third overall.
*4&5 Spectacular the closing race of the series, Cat 4 &
5 became the most animated race of the series. The spirit of the
racers is extremely high and the level of competition and
friendship higher. The unusual in this category happened, four
riders lapped the field and the leader up to this moment missed
the breakaway, his confidence was dropping to the floor. In fact
that was the case; Leonardo Perez lost his lead for 1 point to
the winner of the day and the new man in yellow, Javier Bomnin.
The last step on the final podium was for Felipe Costa. The note
of joviality was given by the crowd awarding Leonel Figueredo
with special podium, medal, jersey and champagne, for winning
the first lap at each race of the series, this is something very
well appreciated, since it brings us to a level of brotherhood
where racers and spectators become as one and as a part of the
cycling community.
