*40+ Top two riders from last week did not show up to this
race leaving the door wide open on the GC. Early in the race
eight riders broke away from the pack, they were closing fast to
lap the field when two of them got separated; then the rest of
them started to see each other and the two at front were gone.
They slow down so much that the bunch that was about to be
lapped caught them, having now only two riders in front of the
bunch. The sprint came and Ransford Robinson with an average
speed of 24.66 MPH won the race followed by Leandro Contreras.
The bunch sprint for third place was taken by Bain Reeves. With
today’s victory “double RR” is the new leader.
* 50+ Another interesting race since the main pack got broken
in three different groups. At front a breakaway of six riders
kept a nice pace to lap the bunch, while five riders were
chasing to become a quatrain. About two laps to go Andrew
Macfarlane took off to win the race in a solo with an average
speed of 24.28 MPH and a gap of five seconds on the chasers. The
sprint for second place was taken by Charles Rosenthal followed
by Israel Vera. Two second places are putting Rosenthal as the
new leader.
*Pro 1,2,3 Change of weather made the race harder. We did not
have a fast race as the one we enjoyed last weekend but with the
change of wind direction and speed in addition to heave rain;
the average speed for the day was 24.89 MPH. One and only one
was able to lap the field by himself from the original breakaway
of eight riders that later on were seven but not for long
because Luis Zayas jumped and went solo seeking second place. He
was chased by Alex McLaughlin, which at the same time was
pursued by his team mate Akil Campbell that needed more the
extra point to secure his first place overall, but with his
fourth place of the day; he is now tied in points with Zayas on
first place. The winner of the day Enrique Lopez has seven
points in fourth place overall. It will be very interesting to
see how the guys in black will handle their riders next Sunday
to consolidate the lead; can a long ranger spoil the party?
*4&5 The rain went away and the wet pavement it is not a
factor in this course for racing due to the good maintenance and
not vehicular traffic. This time the strong riders with the help
of their team mates managed to keep the bunch together. We saw a
few attempts of some riders to breakaway without success. The
weather conditions made them go slower compare to last Sunday,
the average speed was 25.20 MPH and the winner of the day was
Yuniet Del Toro, 200 hundredths of a second behind him we had
Divaldo Ceballo for second place, third place was a closed
sprint taken by Leonardo Perez that became the new leader in the
series.
