Winter Series, Race IV

Cooper City, FL. Feb 6th. 2011

* 40+ Pink Panthers came with complete team to support their yellow jersey leader Jose Armas. They kept control of the race from the beginning. As normal in our races many attempts to breakaway were unsuccessful, Powell, Ransford were brought back. Near the end of the race Vera took off and was join soon after by Gregg Blow, Grant Bruggmann and Stephen Gulligan. This four kept it until the final sprint won by Vera followed by Grant, Geree and Stephen, fifth place was for Carlos Ortiz. Armas hold to the yellow jersey to win the series, second place over all was for today’ winner Israel Vera and third for Philip Elliot.
* 50+ Big Wheel Sunrise team chased every attempt from riders to breakaway; they took that job from Bike America team’s shoulders. Three riders broke away Julian, Hurtado and Madrinal. No one chased them knowing that they had not enough points to jeopardize GC results. Bike America with the help of Miami Masters and Velo Masters kept a good pace to avoid any one else jumping to create or closing the gap to the three at front. Julian won the day followed by Madrinal and Hurtado. Wood the current leader could not hold to yellow, and Rosenthal took the final one to win the series.
* Pro 1, 2, 3 An early break of seven riders gives us the idea that the race was decided and not point left for the day. Alonso, Morozov, Rodriguez, Mlujeak, Cueli, Zayas and Rodriguez worked together in a way that the pack could not close the gap. Four out of the seven were Team Cocos riders. Martinez was the rider with the highest amount of points in third place overall. Somehow Morozov drops back to the pack, now they have one point left to be taken for the bunch at the final sprint. Barros with his sprinting ability was able to take it to consolidate his yellow jersey. From the break Martinez wins the sprint to win the day and takes second on GC, Alonso gets second followed by Mlujeak, Cueli and Rodriguez.
* 4&5 Good field we had for this category, the majority of the time the leader and his friends kept the pack together. A good attempt was made by Dannison a strong junior rider, a couple of laps later on he was joined by Posueco one lap after came Wagner and Amaya, it looks like a good break but the pack brought them back. A few others riders like J Hernandez, A Garcia and I Hernandez tried but not good results. At the final lap we had a crash at the first turn many riders down that could not finish the race. Bermudez wins the sprint and keeps the yellow jersey; second place of the day was for Serrania followed by Arniella.
