* 40+ The new course made the usual Piccolo race more
excited, many new riders out there did not know about the
existence of this old racing venue here in South Florida. First
attempt for the day was from Julio Rojas but Stephen Gilligan
and John Forgatch brought him back. Z motion worked hard to get
someone in a break, Schofield tried but Helms from Bike America
put it back together. Small breaks could not crystallize until
Potter and Armas got a good gap and kept to the end doing 27 to
29 MPH pace. Third place was for Philip Elliot followed by
Herrera, and Vera closed the top five.
*50+ The smallest field of the day, that made it a harder
race many attempts to breakaway in a solo by Julian, Hurtado,
Angel, and Lincoln; but many riders just in charge of closing
gaps and not willing to help breaks. A good attempted by Ferrer
and Rosenthal for two high speed laps couldn’t get away, the
pack was strong enough to keep it together. Unfortunately in the
last lap we had the second crash of the day the rider sitting on
seventh position went down, therefore the six riders ahead were
able to do the final sprint, Rosenthal showed that his power is
back he won by six bike length gap to Mosquera; third was for
Craig, followed by Aldridge and fifth for Wood.
*Pro 1, 2, 3 This new course is fast, pace was kept up to 30
MPH for a few laps at the beginning of the race. Zayas Pablo
Fonseca and Hermanni give it a try but between McFarlane, Nate
Adler Cesar Sosa put back together. Then Barros and Garcia broke
away and kept for a long time. The pack started closing on them,
but Jose Rodriguez, Jose Navarro, Gunter Hermanni and Osvaldo
Delgado, were the only ones that joined the two at front. Now
these to six riders kept it together to the end. Barros known as
“pelota” is back into the racing scenario He out sprinted nice
and easy the small break, second place was for Rodriguez,
Navarro got third, followed by Hermanni and Garcia.
*4&5’s After a couple of high pace laps an early break of
seven riders composed by Rivera, Tatum, Eggart, Hernandez,
Bermudez, Sanchez and Gonzalez almost lapped the field. Along
the way Sanchez couldn’t keep up and went back to bunch. Now the
race had six at front, two of them knew that their chances for a
final sprint were limited. Therefore some jumps started to
happen, but ether one could consolidate their attempts. Kevin
Eggart was able to out sprint Yariel Bermudez, third place a
couple of meters behind was for Frankie Gonzalez half a wheel
ahead of Juan Hernandez, fifth place was for Roslan Rivera.
