* 35+ A cloudy morning that end up an hour later with a
downpour, that do not prevented us enjoying one of closest photo
finish ever seen at our events. Right after last turn J Rojas
was in a solo, a few seconds away the bunch; JF Rodriguez jumped
close to 40 MPH but he felt short at the line for less than a
half inch. Nobody knew who the champion was, until we had to
enhance the film 4 times. I personally think that both of them
are champions; unfortunately only one can be crown, congrats to
Julio Rojas.
* 45+ & 55+ Rain is gone! A combined field had to chase a
break of three riders, two sprinters and a power engine. The
podium was taken, but we did not know the order. Two hundred
meters to the line, elbow to elbow J Armas and J Ortiz, from the
distance we couldn’t tell who the winner will be, not until the
last twenty meters where Armas beat Ortiz by the length of half
a bike, what a way to close the season and the championships for
these two riders. In reference to the 55+, positioning within
the bunch was the key for F Craig to take the champion’s jersey
home, doesn’t matter how anyone may see it, but it is an art to
accommodate yourself within the bunch, at the perfect position
to win.
* Pro 1,2,3 One rider makes the difference, a breakaway of
six riders had about half a lap advantage, you may think, this
is it! From here we'll have the podium, but that was not the
case. Out of the six riders, R Companioni broke away in a solo
to lap the field. To secure his first place and to avoid that
the remaining five riders caught up with the bunch as well, he
went to the front and kept a high pace to pull the break back to
the bunch, only thee riders were able to keep up with him, and
the break finally got cough by the leader. He lapped everybody,
now we have a new “fresh legs” for the podium's second and third
place. “La Bala” E Lopez easily took the sprint for second
place, and last step was for S Mlujeak.
* Cat 4&5 Sun came up, dry road; who would have thought
that two hours ago the sky was falling. The confidence sometimes
kills you. That is what exactly happens on this championship
race. Patches and Elvys Teams were looking at each other.
Practically a new face for them made the right move on the last
lap, J De La Cruz jumped and gained enough momentum to become
the new champion, while all looked at each other, but nobody
took the alternative of doing the chase. They had to console
themselves with the second and third place at the podium.
