* 35+ Despite of the opportunity to race 70 minutes on our
increasing race rotation program with a minimum of 25 riders, we
did not have enough to do so, therefore they raced the usual 45
minutes plus 3 laps. The best attempt to breakaway in a solo,
was given by Yulien Rodriguez that lasted a few laps but was
caught by the bunch, having left sufficient energy in his tank
to take third place overall. In a very good final sprint, Cesar
Sosa exceeds Shannon Malmquist in the last fifty meters to win
the day and claim the first yellow jersey of the season. Not
only happy with that, he is as well the sprinter points white
jersey leader. Well done on his winter training.
* 45+ & 55+ Jose Armas came armed, he took the first
intermediate sprint, then a breakaway of three rides was formed
and he was there to take the second sprint and get the
sprinter’s white jersey. The time came for the final lap and He
wins the race to get in yellow. Second place of the day was for
Richard Diaz, followed by Blain Reeves about one bike length
behind. The bunch sprint gave us the winner of the 55+, Charles
Rosenthal; second place was for Fitzroy Craig, closing the last
step of the podium by Scott Wood.
* Pro 1,2,3 Amazing race we saw last Sunday it was one rider
who took all, the white and the yellow jersey. Patrick Sansbury
in a solo won the first intermediate sprint and then three
riders joined him: Aira, Zayas and Rivera. A couple of laps
after, Zambrana bridged to them. A promising sprint among the
best was about to come, think again… Patrick jumped and the
other four started chatting about who is going to chasing him,
while the man in the blue jersey was gone. Sansbury lapped the
field and kept at the front of the pack; the four chasers were
close to the bunch but they did not make it across. Yoelkis Aira
claimed the sprint for second place followed by Luis Zayas in
third.
* 4&5 Another trio broke away. Unusual at this category but
it happened. A planned strategy to get both jerseys among the
riders in the break: Ceballo, Lee and Diaz that did not work
because we have a tie in points for the white sprinters jersey
that need to be untied (5 points each) next time at Central
Broward Park. Right after the last left turn at the final lap,
each rider took a place on the road, left, center and right; it
was a mano a mano sprint. In the last 50 meters the three of
them went to the center but with more than one bike length
between them, from the inside emerged Divaldo Ceballo to win the
day, followed by Ariel Lee and Alfredo Diaz.
* Juniors Three categories for juniors: 9-11, 12-14 and 15-16
brought us ten riders that raced all together. The winners were
Lucas Judycki, Marcel Maldonado and Jean Luc Contant Galitello.
