*35+ First attack of the day by Mark Campbell from Cool Beans
was closed rapidly by Leonardo Martinez, since to be that he was
in a quest of getting the white jersey, quest that he
accomplished, by getting third in the fist prime and winning the
second one. Jose Armas by winning the first prime gets second
place overall on this particular competition. All attempts for
breakaway were closed by the bunch. The final sprint for the
winner of the race and the first yellow jersey was for Ricardo
Hernandez, followed by Antonio Quintero from Coco’s team. Third
place taken by Charl Jordaan, he was ahead of Victor Herrera by
a length of a bicycle. Close call for fifth place taken by
Heriberto Rodriguez from Cesar Sosa.
*45+ Conrad Gomez form Velo Masters was in a mission to
breakaway but new arrivals to this category were too strong to
let anyone go. One of them was Kenneth Helms from Bike America
Team; he took first on prime one and second on prime two, to
claim the point’s jersey. Peter Carlos by winning the second
prime sits right behind two points from Helms on the white
jersey classification. Four riders got clear from the chasing
group that lapped the main field. The final sprint was for
Ricardo Hernandez, he claims the second yellow jersey of the day
by winning this category too, and he is back at full power.
Second place was for Wills Powell from Bike America, followed by
Peter Aldridge form Z motion.
*Pro 1, 2, 3 Big and fast field at the inaugural Pro 1, 2, 3
race. Many strong riders showed up, 30 + MPH wasn’t uncommon
number on rider’s speedometer. Steven Mlujeak from Bike America
took the first prime of the day to tie up in first place with
the winner of the second one, Leonardo Martinez from Team Cocos;
in the white’s jersey competition. Many attempts to breakaway
had not success due to the high pace kept by the bunch. About
three laps to go three riders were cleared by Yusvany Falcon
brought them back and two laps later won the race with a long
sprint that he initiated right after the last turn, Manuel Caso
form GM bikes, seating four bikes behind; when he saw Falcon
jumping he went too, but could not close the gap in the 500+
meters long sprint to the line, and took second. Right behind
the fight for third place was between Mauricio Henao and Ortelio
Marin, leaving fifth to Alex Gil.
*4&5’s Brand new but strong team GM Bikes brought to this
category. Jorge Rodriguez from GM and Rosian Rivera from Sun
Cycling are tie in first place for the points jersey, each one
won a prime and place third in the other one, but the thing is
that another two riders from GM bikes team, Llorens and
Rodriguez are also tie in second place, so we will see how this
completion develops. Dennison and Sanchez broke away, it looked
for a while that they had made it, but Pedro Posueco from GM
bikes gave it all to bring them back. From there on it was just
time waiting for the final sprint. Yariel Bermudez from GM Bikes
took yellow, and his team mate Jorge Rodriguez took second.
Third place for a couple of inches was taken by Mario Lee from
Esteban Arniella, leaving fifth to Yamil Llorens.
