* 35+ Category, New Racer in Yellow On this sunshiny morning
in South Florida, Ioverheard Z’s bikes planning the race, and
they made it happened as planned. Alex Zambrana won in a solo.
With four laps to go his teammate Reiniel Sanchez was in a
breakaway with Greg Cousins. When he saw the chance he jumped
and caught them by surprise, Greg tried to go with him but
couldn’t. On the other hand Cesar Sosa played cool, waited for
the final sprint and claimed third place. Ceasar got the best
part; he is the new one in Yellow. As expected Jose Armas from
Z’s bikes got the Sprinters Jersey.
* 45+ Category “A one-half inch win” This old category
continues racing at a very high speed. It is almost impossible
to get away. Many riders tried solo, by pairs, but nothing
stuck. Bike America’s team under the name of Ailton De Sousa got
all top points on point’s classification as well as winning the
race. Ailton in an amazing sprint, swung from left to right
looking for a space to pass. He was able to win the sprint by
less than an inch over Wallie Martinez. Big Wheel still placed
two riders in the points. The Yellow Jersey changed hands but
not the team’s name, Big Wheel. The Sprinters Jersey continues
tied between Ailton and Javier Ortiz from Z’s bikes.
* Pro 1, 2, 3 Experience Keeps the Yellow When I saw Grant
Potter at registration, I knew right there the Pro, 1,2,3 would
get it Race Report on from lap one. Victor Herrera shook the
field in the first half. About eight riders broke away, but
today’s strong field brought them back. Yosvany Falcon’s
experience played an important roll today and he was able to
keep his Yellow Jersey. But now he has to pay attention to the
Argentinean Hector Pastorino. The two of them are tied in
points. Grant Potter was able to claim first place by crossing
the line by himself. Alex Zambrana, after racing and winning
35+, had enough power to claim the Sprinters White Jersey in the
Pro 1, 2, 3 field.
* Category 4/5 Old Vs Young Manuel Caso had a difficult time
today keeping up with the Z’s bikes team. There were so many
jumps to follow and not many teammates to help. Nivio Diaz after
doing 45+ went for a second round and he was able to time trial
one-third of the race to win by himself. But Kevin Eggard told
Jack Silverberg “time to go”, and he jumped with three laps to
go. He is been riding/races for less than a year. This youngster
from Z’s bikes team hammered to claim second place, but not only
that, he’s tied in points with the current leader.
