* 40+ Weather forecast rain at mid day, but this category
took the race like a storm. From the beginning attacks one after
the other. A little rest from the pack and N Trujillo took off
with R Morozov, a couple of laps later on K Schofield joined
them, and the rest is history; podium taken. On GC by the
victory from Trujillo at race II, now we have a tie on first
place with J Hernandez. Schofield with his second place ties
With Corsello at second place on the overall.
* 50+ Still no rain, but R Hernandez won the day in a solo,
right from the second lap. The bunch chased but could not bring
him back. Eventually he lap the small group left behind by the
main bunch. Claus Warsoe a rider from Denmark many times chased
with strong pulls but could not get anywhere, a dominant and
impressive spring from him at last turn, gave him second place
for the day, followed by N Diaz; that sits comfortable on GC’s
first place.
* Pro 1,2,3 Pro 1,2,3 Fast pace from the beginning, riders
got dropped on the second lap. The expected rain for the day
made it through. The pace did not slow down, in such save course
under bad weather, no risk of a crash; those that know that took
advantage to push the pace. Y Falcon by the length of three
bikes took first place, followed by E Lopez and L Zayas. Second
and third place of the day are tie with eight points on GC.
* Cat 4&5 Heavy rain encourages the biggest field of the
day to race. 49 strong riders face not only rain but 11
intermediate sprints of $20 each donated by the spectators, this
amazing enjoyment of extra cash as it happened last week kept
the field together through mid race. E Cruz went in a solo to
win the race, while the field still getting cash primes. Y Del
Toro takes the field sprint and the last place at the podium was
for H Rendon; that still the GC leader.
* Juniors What an amazing bunch of riders, I need to mention
that the parents encourage all their kids to race under heavy
rain by getting wet as well during registration time for them.
At that small age, 21 little ones show us what is needed to by a
cyclist. The future looks brighter and brighter to our sport. We
had the following winners on each category:
6-9 Daniel Jimenez
10-12 Mason Mook
13-15 Marcel Maldonado
16-17 Alex Supik
