2012 Winter Series Race III

Copper City,  FL. January  22nd. 2012.

*40+ The target got away; all eyes were on Franco from ZMotion. After a couple of attempts a break of six got away. Sosa, Franco, Gonzalez, Coleman, Trujillo and Cortes opened a good gap; top five on GC were there but as Cortes said” Ivan went and went and that was it”. Now he is in a solo until the end to win the day and get first place overall. The other five got caught by the bunch, and Ortiz wins the field sprint. Sosa on GC is now in second place followed by Gonzalez in third.
*50+ Strong break consolidated at front about 20 minutes into the race, right after many attack from Bike America just to wear out riders. They were Hurtado, Lincoln, Clossick, Fetko and Julian, keeping a good gap. But Carlos initiated a chase followed by Angel and Tittle; somehow after the crash the pack was all back together. The top three on GC continue getting top three for the day, this time Julian got first and seats second over all, followed by Rosenthal and Carlos; that continues first overall.
*Pro Travieso, Franco and Cueli, have small gap, less than10 seconds, Current leader Pol, gets out of the road right before last turn onto the grass. He desired not to continue racing for the day. Coco’s DT tells Travieso to put the hammer down since Pol was out; and did; lapping the field. Not only that but he wins the pack sprint and wins the race. Now Travieso is second overall with the same amount of points that current leader Pol. Zayas moved third place overall.
*4&5 Many solo attempts by Noritake, Daniel, Alayon, and Delsol-Rodriguez happened without success, but the kept jumping and jumping; until finally Daniel and Alayon got together opening a gap that the pack could not close. The top contenders decided to wait for the final sprint to collect the points left. Daniel gets final sprint to win the race. Yepes form Sun Cycling wins the bunch sprint to get third place. For the overall Cristia kept first place just by one point, from his team mate Daniel and one point behind him is Abdel Salas. Interested to see how it develops next race.
