*35+ Nine riders got separated a few meters from the pack,
one more rider goes to the front, then another one and finally
two more riders. Now at the pack they started to look at each
other to see who will close the gap but no one does it. First
intermediate sprint comes and it is taken by Jack Gottieb racing
for Cool Beans. The gap has increased and the bunch it not
moving, but Trujillo jump them and close the gap by himself, now
we have fourteen men breakaway group. Leonardo Colman from Sun
Cycling Team takes the second prime of the day. A couple of laps
later Guttieb, Morosov, Gonzalez, Trujillo and Rios broke away
but one lap to go the original fourteen are back together. Roman
Morosov from Cool Beans Team wins the race follow by Willie
Gonzalez from Velo Masters Team, third place was taken for about
two inches difference by Raul Diaz racing for Sun Cycling from
Heriberto Rodriguez also from Velo Masters.
*45+ We saw something that had not happen in this category
for a long time, Kenneth Helms racing for Bike America went in a
solo from lap two, even though his team mates did an excellent
job blocking for him, in a few occasions the bunch was close to
him. He took both primes to consolidate his white point’s
jersey. A few laps after the second sprint, that is about forty
minutes into the race Nivio Diaz from Pink Panthers Team was
able to close the gap, now this due had secure the race. They
gave us a good and long sprint side by side; Helms by a quarter
of a wheel‘s length took first place and the yellow jersey. Now
he has both of them. The field sprint was taken by Wallie
Martinez from Big Wheel Sunrise Team.
*Pro 1, 2, 3 GM Bikes team had only one mission, make sure
that no breakaways will happen and to lead the current leader
Manuel Caso to the final sprint. We could say mission
accomplished, their “domestics” gave it all for his leader. Alex
Suarez said “ I close many gaps and gave all I have until I
could not pedal any more before I dropped out of the race three
laps to go” Another team also in a mission was Sun Cycling,
their search was for the white points jersey, Joel Barros by
winning the two primes, will be on white next race. Miguel
Puldon was his lead out teammate. The final sprint was head to
head between Geron William from Continental Cycle Club 2000 from
Guyana and Manuel Caso, the Guyanese out sprinted Caso for about
a meter. Third place was for a junior, Jake Silverberg followed
by Esteban Arniella and to close the top five we had another
junior, Richard Newman racing for Orlando Road Club. These new
generations of juniors have a bright future ahead of them.
*4&5’s GM bikes is also dominating this category, Jorge
Rodriguez told us “if possible I want both jerseys” team mates
here are given their best for their leader. Rodriguez out
sprinted twice in the intermediate sprints Rolsan Rivera from
Sun Cycling to gain five points and be only four points behind
on the sprinters white jersey competition. A new junior rider,
Andres Alayon from Sun Cycling Team surprised the field by
winning the race; he flew by the right side of the road to take
victory. Second place in a close sprint was taken by Thomas
Gibbson from Yariel Bermudez, but Bermudez seats now in second
place overall just one point behind the current leader.
