* 35+ A breakaway of six riders were ahead for most of the
race, but two laps to go their dream was gone, “grupo Compacto”
In the mean time while they were at front we had the two
intermediate sprints, the fight was between JA and JF Rodriguez;
taken 5 and 3 points respectively. JF still leads by 9 points.
In a surprise sprint, (the closest one of the day) Y Rodriguez
took the win for a few inches from JF Rodriguez; third place was
for N Trujillo. We have a new yellow jersey leader, JA
Rodriguez.
* 45+ & 55+ After the first intermediate sprint won by J
Armas to consolidate his first place on this classification; a
group of 4 riders broke away, until the end of the race. One of
them was A. Macfarlane, a 55+ rider that won the final sprint in
a solo. The other three riders from the breakaway came one by
one in a hard sprint against the wind, a Canadian E Orovost won
the 45+ category followed by R Omelio and R Diaz. No change on
the leader’s overall classification, Schofield still on first
place.
* Pro 1,2,3 Main event with high head winds in the way to the
finish line, the field went strong from beginning to the end. An
attempt in a solo from the R Companioni was neutralized fast,
but in the process took the first intermediate sprint. The
second one was taken by M Sebastian, JA Rodriguez continues as
white leader. Three laps to go, Stadalli team in a perfect line
was leading the pack over 30 MPH, one by one were pulling off,
but surprisingly about 50 meters to go, E Lopez racing for All 4
cycling team, emerged from the center of the pack to win the
race, second place for about a foot, was for A Tavarez, closing
the podium in third, we had Y Falcon from Stradalli. V Herrera
with his fourth place is now the yellow jersey leader!
* Cat 4&5 The biggest field of the day and as usual new
talent gets ready for action. The race within the race had 3
riders to untie the intermediate sprints, and F Acosta
accomplished that by winning one and third on the other. A
little bit of light rain, shake some riders, especially over the
cobbles, but went away fast. The bell rigs, one lap to go and
traffic gets hectic, last small road bend, from the center of
the street O Martinez raised his arms as symbol of victory, by
the length of about three bikes, second place was for Y DelToro.
T Shriver closed the last spot at the podium. Martinez is now
the man in yellow.
