* “The good the bad and the ugly” 35+ race from lap one had
Joel Barros in a mission, the points jersey. Luis Miguel and
Jose Hernandez joined him in the first break of the day, later
on Jorge Cortes went across. For a second the started to look at
each other and Joel kept on going in a solo. About two laps
before Carlos rings the bell, He got caught but managed to win
the first sprint. Right after that, Alex Zambrana, Leonardo
Martinez, Victor Herrera and the current leader Willie Gonzalez
made the final break of the race. We really do not know what
exactly happened at the last turn before the final sprint, or
knew who the good or the bad riders were, but what we know, is
that the ugly was the referee who relegated first and third
place to second and forth respectively. This saga gave today’s
victory to Victor Herrera.
* “Knew my laps but didn’t hear the bell” Roly Hurtado went
by him self for the first 4 laps but the pack brought him back.
A few jumps here and there, but nothing solid. Israel Vera got
first on first points sprint and third on the second sprint to
consolidate his white jersey. Every one was waiting for Gus
Ferrer to jump, and he did but every one called his name and he
couldn’t make it. But as planned by Bike America, Charles
Rosenthal jumped and took with him Jose Benitez, Israel Vera,
Marcos Beltran and Javier Ortiz. Out these five, two of them had
in mind the yellow, the favorite at least on the table was
Rosenthal. Some how His mind went into cloud number seven and
forgot about the bell, when he realize that it was the final
sprint, it was to late for him and the leaders jersey went to
Vera, who placed second. One lap to go Marcos Beltran jumped and
won 45+ race in a solo.
* “Heat, speed and crash main factors” In a very hot summer
day pro 1,2,3 race started fast, a couple of riders got dropped
in the first two laps. Gerardo Rodriguez worked so hard chasing
every break to see if he could consolidate his lead for the
white jersey. But Leonardo Martinez was the one who taken both
primes and the jersey. Between jumps the field started to lose
riders, Shane Braley closed a few lap by him self. After a crash
8 minutes before 3 laps to go, the remaining field was reduced
to 22 riders out the original 42. Rainiel Sanchez took first
place for about the length of 3 bicycles, but Hector Pastorino
by taken second place, now is the current leader. Team Cocos has
been changing the yellow jersey among it riders, luxury that no
many teams could do.
* “Die for white” Another interesting race for white jersey,
Nieves took off from start to consolidate enough points to untie
first place. He got the first one and the jersey but Jorge
Marino is one point behind, his coach Joel Barros is pushing him
hard to get it next race. After the second prime, two men break
formed. Armando Garcia and Hamlet Alfonso in a nicely steady
pace open up a good gap. Out of no where between last two turns
Ahmed Lopez flew and was able to pass them to win for at least
15 meters. Armando took second and Hamlet third. Isniel
Hernandez kept yellow, but told me this jersey gets heavy when
you wear it. Hamlet is second overall with the same amount of
points. Both jerseys will give us a good race to watch august
18th.
