* 35+ Perfect weather for racing and a breakaway of six
riders opened up a gap, the first intermediate sprint was taken
by Jose Armas. Between here and the second sprint one rider went
across, but the points were for Armas as well. In the next 15
minutes new riders got to the break and a couple of them got
dropped, leaving us with 10 riders ahead of the bunch, they
thought they made it, but the pack did not give up and two laps
to go they got caught. Fresh legs were ready for the final lap;
Armas was the strongest followed one wheel behind by Christopher
Wright and half a second after Roman Morozov.
* 45+ & 55+ A combined field of the older guys came
together for the first intermediate sprint, when we thought
Leonel Rodriguez got it, out of the blue came flying Leonardo
Perez to take the three points. Right after that sprint three
riders got clear but the pack could see them, the second prime
was for Gus Ferrer and the bunch was already 32 seconds behind.
From this trio Andrew MacFarlane was registered at the 55+
group, the other two, Ferrer and the winner of the day Jorge
Garcia belong to the 45+. The bunch sprint gave us on the
younger age for third place Leonardo Perez and for the older
group; Fitzroy Craig took second place followed by Mauricio
Mosquera.
* Pro 1,2,3 Team Cocos is back with a bang. The main event
was an amazing race; it has been a long time since we saw how
team works it done. The team from Guyana and based in Colombia
controlled and dominated the race. Ten riders managed after many
attempts and strong jumps to get away from the bunch, to become
after the second intermediate sprint into two groups of four
riders each. Back in the pack, team Cocos took control but two
riders flew away to reach the second group of four riders; while
at front Jaime Ramirez jumped and went in a solo four laps to
go, to win the race, 15 seconds later Alex Zambrana crossed the
line taken an extra second to the third place finisher, Luis
Zayas.
* 4&5 Cat 4&5 The wind picked up and most
enthusiastic group was ready at the line, at the same time this
category is getting stronger by the minute, 93% of the riders
finished and only two were behind the pack. A few attempts to
breakaway were controlled by the bunch. Team Cornerstone is
dominating this event; Ariel Lee took one intermediate sprint
while Alfredo Diaz took the second one. A crosswind from the
north brought us a wide open bunch final sprint, all together
100 meters to go, from the left emerge Ariel Lee the winner of
the day, while from the right, we saw Alfredo Diaz take second
place and right in the middle of the road for third place, Yohan
Laurencio.
