*35+ “Explosive Race” Sun cycling did the necessary work to
keep the white jersey, Barros won the first sprint and his team
mate Raul Diaz took the second one. If you can not get the
points, who else better that your own team’s mate, so no one
will take them away from Barros. Good racing tactic. Very
unusual situation happened on this race, it really past by a
long period of time before the break lapped the field at this
venue, that is Miami Lakes. After the second prime the race
exploded into two groups, and then the front pack split into
three different groups. Three laps to go leading group of Joel
Barros, Willie Gonzalez, Heriberto Rodriguez, Leonardo Martinez
and Victor Herrera were fifty meter behind the main group; we
applaud the maturity of both, pack and break by not mixing
together. Final lap, tight sprint, Martinez takes victory, photo
finish for next three places between Barros, Rodriguez and
Herrera leaving fifth place for Gonzalez that kept the yellow
jersey followed by Victor Herrera in second place behind four
points.
*45+ “Another photo finish” Team Paisa controlled the first
fifteen minutes of the race by making sure that Israel Vera will
keep the white jersey. They were able to take all three places
in the first sprint. Towards the second prime a break conformed
by Mauricio Mosquera, Paul Lincoln, Blain Reeves and Mark Hewitt
looked strong; but Team Paisa pulled them back. Pace was kept
very fast, Gus Ferrer put the hammer down thirty one miles per
hour pace for a complete lap, and could not shake the bunch.
Three laps to go Nivio Diaz, Jose Benitez and Roger Phanord had
about twenty seconds gap, but in the last lap they got caught.
Wallie Martinez out sprint them to win the race and took the
yellow jersey again. Can He win this series too? And make it
three out three this season? Photo finish picture decided next
three places, Javier Ortiz, Mauricio Mosquera and Charles
Rosenthal leaving fifth place to Peter Carlos.
*Pro 1, 2, 3 “Strong Break” Leonardo Martinez was able to
keep his white jersey by winning the first points sprint and
getting third in the second one. Nate Adler also is looking into
this jersey; he is behind three points in second place. Strong
break formed almost from the beginning of the race, fourteen
riders broke away and were ahead of the bunch about forty five
seconds to one minute. They kept it until minute thirty five.
Slowly but surely the pack started taken about ten seconds every
lap, as they organized them selves better and better, the break
did it the other way around, some riders were seating in the
back and not working, they started to look at each other, and
then got caught. Two laps to go Rainiel Sanchez and Manuel Caso
broke away from the pack, they kept high pace to claim first and
second place, but what it was important for Sanchez was getting
into yellow. Third place was for Victor Herrera followed by
Yosmani Pol and Alex Zambrana.
*4&5’s “almost they got caught” White jersey is given also an
interested twist, Jorge Nuevas by winning only the first sprint
at each race of series III is giving him enough points to keep
his jersey. If he does the same at next race in the lakes, since
we have not points at Vista View will be sufficient to keep it?
After the first sprint a break of nine riders got away. They had
over a minute from the bunch. The second prime reduced the break
to six riders including the top two in the general
classification. Some how the bunch picked up the pace and closed
the gap to 20seconds, they almost got caught. Yamil Llorens
noticed that and started to pull the group as hard as he could
since he was working for the Isniel Hernandez, current leader.
His effort was paid off and kept them away. But by him placing
forth gave not room to Isniel to get any points, since he placed
sixth. Daniel Mosquera who just got back from a hard training
program in Colombia won the race for at least five bikes length
to Roslan Riviera. Hamlet Alfonso got third, but now in the new
leader. Juan Hernandez got fifth and now he sits third overall.
