* 35+ When I heard that Patrick was registering only for one
race, we knew that he was given all into this race. In fact,
after the first intermediate sprint taken by JF Rodriguez, 3 men
broke away; P Sansbury, JA Rodriguez and A Hulscher. Patrick did
not contest the second sprint, but when he crossed the line,
expressed to us “am the winner” and it happened, he came in solo
to take the yellow jersey.
* 45+ & 55+ Wm Strong wind coming from the west, which
means half of the course against it. For the first time given
out merchandise prizes for the intermediate sprint brought new
challengers, L Perez took the first one, but it was the end of
the race for many riders, minute 15 into the race, V Herrera
took off and won in an impressive solo, about three laps to go,
the pack was closing on him, he looked back saw them and pushed
the pedals to re-open a 35 seconds gap to take the yellow jersey
as well as the white sprinter’s jersey. F Craig won the 55+
field and the women race was for E Lyon.
* Pro 1,2,3 The wind continued to ravage the peloton. Three
men breakaway took all: sprinter’s points and podium places. We
had two chasers, followed by another two, and from time to time
a few riders gapped the main group for a few seconds but they
came back. No one could get to any of the three groups ahead of
them; riders were all over the course. E Lopez (Kiko) took both
jerseys, yellow and white. Second place was for R Minier and
closing the podium we had J Armas.
* Cat 4&5 For many this is the main event, the fast,
furious and fearless are combined here, a new generation is
rising out of this amazing bunch of riders, which will continue
dominating at all races in Florida, as the South Floridians do
in the other categories. E Zugor is the new sprinter’s white
jersey leader, he took 5 out 6 available points in this
competition. The day belongs to Q King that won the race and is
the new guy in yellow. Second place was for L Vassell, followed
by O Martinez.
