Series II Race IV

Homestead, FL, July 3rd, 2016

*35+
On a very enjoyable new venue we started with 35+ category where J Armas took both intermediate sprints. After the first one a breakaway of 4 riders opened up a good gap. As JF Rodriguez told me “I got tired of pulling up people, now they have to take me” he was one of the four on the front group, with more than one half of a lap ahead. They started to look at each other, then G Ferrer jumped to win the race in a solo, the other 3 kept pedaling so slow, that they almost got caught by the bunch. Second place of the day was for Rodriguez, followed by J Armas. N Trujillo kept the yellow jersey but Armas and Ferrer are now tied in point with the leader. Last race of the series is going to be a good one not to miss.
*45+ & 55+
An early break of N Trujillo and G Ferrer, gave the two intermediate sprints to the rider from Hialeah. Out the two chasers, we had the sprinter’s white jersey leader L Perez, which took the last point available on each sprint to keep his jersey. The rain made us stop the race due to a very close thundering, to restart 30 minutes after, obeying county regulations. The gaps were big enough that the two duets kept the distances, N Trujillo won the race, followed by G Ferrer that maintained the yellow jersey, closing the top three we had L Perez. On the 55+ category W Martinez took the win, second place was for F Craig that is now the current leader, the last step of the podium was for M Mosquera.
*Pro 1,2,3
We continued having sun and rain, but without thundering. One Cuban and two Colombians took the lead of the race, the gap got opened and they were gone. The bunch gave up, consoling just for the final sprint for fourth place. The two intermediate sprints and the race were taken by the leader of both jerseys, E Lopez. The second place of the day was for S Salinas, followed by H Ramirez.
*4&5
New teams keep adding in to what so far is the main event, we welcome Brevet team and Big Wheel in addition to our regular teams: Cornerstone and Ceiver. Race by race the passion increase in this amazing category where the level is at highest. The rain continues on and off, and the racing pace was kept high. Rain is part of the cycling races; therefore riders need to do training under those conditions. 3 riders broke away to give a nice sprint under heavy rain, R Artiga by the length of a bike wins the race followed by M Moreno, the last step of the podium was for C Mendoza. A Lee has now both the sprinter and leader’s jersey.
