Season Finale

Copper City, FL Sept 12th. 2010

* 35+ “Lapped Field” Many attempts were made for many riders to break away but Performance Team brought every one back. Eventually they run out of fuel. At the right moment, when they slow down a little bit, Wayne Simon, from verdigris cycling, Chris Hoch from GS Palm Beach, David Palomino from RB Cyclist Doral and Damian Serrania from Team Paisa, took off. They managed at a good pace to lap the field. Some of the championship contenders did not realize that two of the four riders in the break were qualified, Palomino and Serrania. Soon after they got back together the bell announced three laps to go. The bunch sprint was for Alex Zambrana, but about 10 meters behind a close sprint between Palomino and Serrania took place for gold and silver. Third place was for Jose Armas that when the break lapped the field when in a solo ahead of the bunch. For the day results due to riders not been qualified, Simon took first and Hoch Second placed.
* 45+ “No slow down” It is almost unbelievable the high speed maintained by this category, four riders, Hurtado, Powells, Hernandez and Acosta made the first break of this race, but four laps later the were all together. Every one here is in a good shape, dropped out rate for category forty five plus is only about fifteen percent, very low for the high average speed maintained. Mid race a break of about 12 rides had a big gap, we thought this is it, but they proved us wrong, all back together. Final lap, only three guys got ahead a few meters to contest the sprint: Martinez, Aldridge and Mosquera. Martinez had enough time to look right in the last ten meters to see where Aldridge was and race his right hand for victory. Mosquera took third. Israel Vera took the rainbow points jersey. This year Wallie Martinez racing for Big Wheel Sunrise won all three series took first place on overall points and was crowned as the 2010 Rosewood champion. Great year for him and his team.
* Pro 1, 2, 3 “Coordinated team” First attempt was done by hansley, Sosa and Rodriguez, but as it happen ninety percent of the time, they go back to the pack. This race was driven by team cocos, they worked like a well oiled machine. Riders where sent to front and to breaks to keep the race moving. A final and strong jump was given from Alonso Leynier, every time he passed by the start finish line people were cheering him to encourage his solo effort that at the end of the day, gave him ans his team final victory. Team Cocos managed so well they pace that it was enough to keep his team mate way ahead from the pack, but at the same time not to let any jump from the pack. The final sprint for second place was for the top world class track riders from Cuba Yosmani Pol, leaving bronze to a British Guyana pro rider by the name of Godfrey Pollydore. Overall points winner was Yusvany Falcon, the sprinter’s rainbow jersey of the year was for Leonardo Martinez, also from Cocos Team.
* 4&5 “every one looking for rainbow” all riders registered for this event were looking for the qualified list, main objective: see who could and could not get away. Armas was the first one to go in a solo attempt. Then Mosquera with Armas, Arniella closed the gap and now three in the break. No can do, all back to the pack. Attempts in a solo by Alfonso and other riders were not successful. Another break formed, this time Serrania, Llorens, Rivera and Armas, did not work ether. Mid race, six riders got clear, Arniella, J Garcia, Bermudez, Armas, A Garcia and Velez, but between N Diaz, J Silverberg and Thilen every one at the end of the race came back together. Bell rings, one lap to go, final sprint is coming up, Esteban Arniella is the new champion, second place was for Jorge Garcia, but he is not qualified therefore silver goes to Jose Armas, bronze taken by Roslan Rivera. Rainbow jersey in the sprinter’s category was for Caso. The overall points winner to close this year’s hall of fame was Daniel Mosquera.
