Series II Race IV

Lauderhill, FL, June 28th, 2015

* 35+ The “solo” race. Interesting approach we had at this category, top three places came to the finish line one by one. After the second intermediate sprint taken by JA Rodriguez to secure his white jersey, P Sansbury broke away to win the race. A few laps later on JA Rodriguez took off to chase, but could not close gap. J Armas as well in a solo chased the two in front to take third place. The bunch came about 20 seconds later, to fight for 4th place, taken by W Cuello.
* 45= & 55+ L Perez is untouchable. The two intermediate sprints were taken by him to secure his first place on the sprinter’s white jersey. Within between sprints a break of three riders got consolidated. Two strong riders from CPO team: Armas and Schofield, and one from Big Wheel: Perez. Two against one, maybe the race was secure for CPO, think again… the rider from big wheel was strong enough to control them and win the day, Perez victorious was followed by Armas and Schofield. The old guys field (55+) finally had their own race, 15 riders made us split the field. Six riders managed to breakaway. But at the end P Lincoln in a powerful effort left behind Mosquera and Vasquez to take victory. GC has now two riders in first place with 20 points each, let see how this develops at the series finale, next time at Piccolo
* Pro 1,2,3, Not match for “Kiko”. E. Lopez continues showing a powerful sprint; no one is getting close to him. He took the two intermediate sprints to consolidate his sprinter’s white jersey by seven points ahead of Minier in second place; Lopez has the luxury of not contesting the sprints next time and keeps the jersey. A Break of five got away but about one k to go, E Pulgarin that was chasing for more than one lap, closed the gap and placed third for the day, ahead of him to take second place, we had A Gil; at the distance of about 10 bikes length ahead, we had the winner of the day and the current lieder, E Lopez.
* 4&5 It is not the arrow, is the Indian. The main event showed us a very exiting race. A nice controversy was generated by this category, when I. Castillo in a steel bicycle from the 80’s, took the first place at the podium. Racing has many faces, we as a cycling family, see each other every other Sunday; on the road we all are competitors, but off the road, we all are friends, that is the only way to keep having good times at the races. Therefore we have a tie on GC for first place, between the current leader E Zugor and C Fuentes with 16 points each, on third place, Q King is just one point behind. Zugor faces another dilemma, he is the sprinter’s leader as well, but E Lopez could take this jersey. Is he going to protect both jerseys, or fight for only one? We will see this finale at Piccolo July 12th.
