*Master A
New season new categories, we started with the Master A composed
of 40+ and 50+ for riders category 1,2 and 3 in a cold and
breeze morning we began racing. 5 riders were able to lap the
field and only one was for the 50+ category, K Abbate had secure
his first place on his field; second and third were for P Carlos
and B Keno respectively. The final sprint brought us for the 40+
category, J Armas as the winner followed by JA Rodriguez and N
Diaz.
*Master B
The second event of the day took place for another new category,
this time Master B 40+ and 50+ for riders that are category 4
and 5. The weather started to improve and this field gave us a
six men breakaway with only one rider from the 50+, P Perry that
secured first place, later on T Houtenbrink and Y Herrera
completed the top three. Last lap final sprint gave as J Borrego
as winner followed by his team mate E Lopez and closing the
podium M Layva.
*Elite
This time we can call it the main event, speed, endurance, hard
racing, you name it, that’s what we saw! Spectacular race with
62 minutes of Excellency. This event is also divided into two
categories, Pro 1-2 and cat 3. Mid way into the race about 12
riders got ahead of the pack for about 1 minute, as the time
passed by, it became a six men pack that ended in a splendid
final sprint, L Zayas took victory from LA Romero Amaran leaving
the last step at the podium to A Geffner. J Gonzalez was the
only rider cat 3 on the breakaway giving him first place on his
category; 24 seconds later on A Lee and Y Del Toro crossed the
line to get the complete podium.
*Men
Category 4 and 5 closed the day with splendid weather. Strong
field throughout the complete race. We saw many attempts from
riders to breakaway but a well control pace by the main bunch
brought back every single one. The level of the riders showed us
a very even field, without letting us predict a winner. The
final sprint was taken by JE Garcia followed by the junior
JeanLuc; the third place at the podium was for M Anderson.
