* “The House of Pain” (Vista View Park) brought this year the
Rosewood Championship. Five different categories fought for the
precious champion jersey. At 8 o’clock in the morning category
35+ took off, soon a breakaway of five riders formed and they
did not stay quiet, jump after jump brought us a finish, where
they came in, one by one and the winner was Patrick Sansbury.
Right after, two categories combined had the turn to race, 45+
and 55+. Again, another group of five riders got ahead and
stayed together until the last climb, where Victor Herrera in an
amazing sprint, from three quarters of the last hill, took
victory home. On the other category Mauricio Mosquera took
second place on the field sprint, to win 55+.
The strongest legs of the day were up and ready to race, from
the bunch four riders got separated, keeping hard and steady
pace, until the final sprint, the sound of exhalation from Alex
Gil when he crossed the line, sounded like music of expression
of the mission accomplished, and the acquisition of the champion
jersey, that crowned him as the best rider of the year.
The house of pain closed the championships with what for many
was the main event. All classifications were closed throughout
the racing year. A group of 16 riders left the bunch behind,
later on we had 10 riders, but a few laps later on, and it got
consolidated into the final 8 contenders. The last climb of the
day half way, showed us with four riders ahead, but the
strongest one, was Leonardo Perez-Avila your new champion.
